Yes, it has an unfortunate name. But GIMP is one of the best free, open-source photo-editing tools available. Lots of in-depth tools means steep learning curve. Available on Windows, MacOS and Linux.

Photopea is an online photo-editor that has similar tools to Photoshop. It is ad-supported, users can go Premium for $4 a month, which removes ads and gives access to a few more features. Can also be installed as an app on your device.

Canva is an online graphics design platform, with a wide range of templates. It is free to use, login required to save documents, whereas Canva Pro unlocks useful features, costs AU$165 a year for five users, 30-day free trial.
Pic Monkey is an online photo-editor established by Shutterstock. Also available as a mobile app on iOS or Android. AU$108 annual fee for Basic package, 7-day trial available.
Pixlr is a free online image editor, with a large number of templates able to be used. Pixlr X is basic software, good for creating social media posts. Pixlr E has more advanced, Photoshop-style tools. Can go Premium, for US$5 a month.
Be Funky is a free online editor with a broad range of tools and templates. Upgrade for $5 a month for access to more tools, or $60 a year.
Fotor is an online photo-editor, that can be free to use. Lots of templates and advanced AI tools. Requires sign in. Can be downloaded onto Windows, Mac OS, iOS or Android. Can upgrade to Fotor Pro for US$9 a month or US$40 a year- free trial available.
