Primary Animation

Ages 9 – 11

In this course, students will learn how to create some different styles of animation, including practical stop-motion animation, and 2D digital animation.

Your child will discover the techniques of animation, and how to create their own animations. Drawing ability does not matter, as the animations use real objects or digital characters- they can choose to use plasticine, toys or Lego to animate a story.

This course spans 15 hours, 1.5 hours a week for 10 weeks.

Primary Animation will be running in 2025.

Course costs $199 for the term. Courses are group sessions of 2-5 students.


Requirements:

To capably complete this course, students will need:

  • A device with Internet connection

  • A separate webcam on a stand/ tripod will be useful if available

  • Materials to animate with, such as Lego, pipe-cleaners, toys, plasticine or paper - whatever is available


Curriculum areas covered:

  • Media skills and techniques

  • Characters and story

  • Planning, creating and presenting

  • Analysing media works

By the end of this course, students will have their own animation video files, and an animated character response document. Students will not receive a grade or assessments on tasks.

Supplies you own

You’ll be able to utilise or recycle supplies you already have at home to complete lesson activities. We’ll provide you with alternative options as well.

Our activities are designed to keep your child engaged, whether it’s designing an animated character or creating their own Lego animations.
